What government will come out of the Egyptian revolution?

Advertise | AdChoices

There is little doubt that the winds of change will prevail in Egypt. The people are not backing down despite any action to remain in power by the current government. They will have their revolution come hell or high water. There are high hopes of democracy in Egypt. Yet, who`s democracy will they get?

Of course for the countless Egyptians flooding the streets daily it is their deepest desire for a democratic government for and by the people. Most of the people in the streets their cause is true and of pure intentions. They want no ill will to come to their nation. Yet, not all Egyptians seek to free their nation from the US backed and funded oppressive Mubarak government. Released Wikileaks US diplomatic cables reveal that leaders within the Egyptian revolution have been meeting and working with the US to overthrow the Mubarak government. This cable exposes that in late December members of the Egyptian `April 6` activists meet with and discussed plans to overthrow the Mubarak government with help from the United States. As unbelievable as this may seem, considering that Mubarak is a US supported dictator, this cables exposes the US Federal government of attempting to play both sides off each other.

Such information clearly shows the result of direct, and indirect, US involvement have had in the affairs of the nation of Egypt. By supporting a oppressive dictator, and supporting a movement to overthrow the same leader, the US is in effect responsible for the chaos in Egypt. One can only speculate on how the nation of Egypt would be different if D.C. had kept it claws out of the political and social direction of this once proud country.

The past cannot be changed so when the Egyptian revolution is successful, and it will be, will the nation get a people`s democracy or yet another US puppet government.

The US Federal government would of course want certain unnamed revolution leaders to be placed in position of power and influence once Mubarak`s government is overthrown. The people of Egypt will have had their revolution, Mubarak would be gone, the US can save face by supporting a democratic revolution and US control of Egypt will continue. Change will have only appeared to have happened with the right amount of propaganda, compromised revolution leaders and pressure form the IMF.

The people of Egypt must be very careful who they support as a `leader` of their revolution. If they get it wrong it will be more of the same.

Look how Obama treats Egypt versus how he treated Iran when they faced massive protests after a fraudulent election.

Did he call for Ahmadinejad to go "yesterday"?

No he did not. The reason for this is because the US has never been able to get any Iranian leaders in their back pocket after the Shaw was forced out of power.
